How We Choose

Readers should be able to see how a recommendation was made. Baibase compares pet gear by starting with the decision a shopper needs to make, then separating useful differences from sales copy.

1. Define the decision

Before looking at products, we identify who the guide is for, what the product needs to do, the likely budget range, and the constraints that could change the answer.

2. Build the comparison set

We look for products that US shoppers can reasonably buy, then build a comparison set from manufacturer information, current listings, category research, and obvious alternatives.

3. Compare what matters

Each category needs its own criteria. A travel bowl, walking harness, and safety light should not be judged by the same scorecard. Guides explain the criteria that matter for that decision.

4. Check tradeoffs

Every recommendation has limits. We call out size, compatibility, maintenance, durability concerns, and situations where a different option may work better.

5. Keep recommendations current

A good pick can be discontinued, changed, replaced, or overtaken. We date meaningful updates and revise recommendations when the evidence changes.

Research-based and hands-on guides

If someone at Baibase personally tests a product, the article will explain what was tested. If a guide is based on documented research, it will be labeled as research-based and will not imply first-hand use.
